Private assessments for children
We follow NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidance (CG128) on assessing children and young people for Autism. This includes:
- Gathering a developmental history, focusing on developmental and behavioural features consistent with ICD-11 or DSM-5 criteria (consider using an autism-specific tool to gather this information). We use the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI*).
- An assessment (through interaction with and observation of the child or young person) of social and communication skills and behaviours, focusing on features consistent with ICD-11 or DSM-5 criteria (consider using an autism-specific tool to gather this information). We use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS*).
What our students say about us
I highly recommend this clinic and its practitioners for their high level of professionalism and supportive environment.
Following the assessment, we received valuable psychoeducation about living with Autism, which was incredibly beneficial. This education has been instrumental in helping our family understand and support our child in various aspects of daily life.
I was concerned about not recalling enough details about my child's early development during the parent interview. The practitioners made the process very comfortable and were adept at guiding me to provide the necessary information, even when I struggled to recall specifics.
Overall, our experience with this clinic has been extremely positive, and we have seen significant benefits as a family.
My child found the assessment environment to be comfortable and non-intimidating. The practitioners were very patient and attentive throughout the process.
